Most children stay at school over the lunch period. As of September 2014, all children of infant school age (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) are entitled to a free school lunch. Nursery children are provided with a school meal as part of the lunch session.
Children choose their lunch at registration. Daily there is the choice of a hot meat meal, a hot vegetarian meal, a jacket potato with various fillings, or a ham or cheese sandwich with salad. For pudding, children can choose yoghurt, fruit or the cake/biscuit of the day.
Please note, it may be necessary to change the menu without prior notice.
School dinners are prepared on the premises. Our Cook is happy to cater for children with special dietary needs. If you wish to speak to the cook please contact the School Office.
If your child will be late arriving at school, please inform the school office if a meal is needed so that the correct number of meals can be prepared.
Free school meals and Pupil Premium
The term ‘free school meals’ can be confusing. Pupil premium funding is additional money the school can claim for children from low-income families who previously were entitled to ‘free school meals’. However, the rules have changed and now all children in infant schools (Reception, Year 1 and 2) are eligible for a free school meal regardless of income and without needing to register.
Schools are still able to claim pupil premium funding to support children from low-income families so we encourage all families who are eligible to complete the funding application.
The school is also able to claim pupil premium for supporting looked-after children, previously looked-after children and children with a parent in the armed forces.
