Happy Children Love Learning
Special Educational Needs
If you have any questions regarding provision for Special Educational Needs, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Smith, our SENDCo via the school office.
We believe that the key to success is happiness, a love of learning and a school where children feel supported, respected and safe. Every child is precious and it is a privilege to play a part in their development – their overall well-being is of paramount importance and at the centre of what we do at Pocklington Infants. Our staff are committed to meeting the needs of all our children and strive to break down any barriers that are preventing children from making the progress they are capable of. Staff expect every child to fulfil their potential and celebrate everyone’s uniqueness and the gifts and talents they have. We aim to provide each child with the skills, knowledge, perseverance, enthusiasm and life skills which will equip them to lead a successful and happy life. As a school, we recognise the importance of not only supporting children’s academic progress but also developing their behavioural, emotional and social skills to enable them to become confident, independent learners.
As well as our SENDCo Mrs Smith, our SEN team includes Mrs Mouland (SEND Teaching Assistant) and Mrs Saltmer (ELSA). We hope you find the following information helpful in understanding the types of support we provide for our children, and how and when these can be accessed.
If you are a parent of a child with special educational needs and you have a complaint about the support the school provides, please initially contact our SENDCo, Mrs Sarah Smith. If she is unable to resolve your complaint please contact Dr Lynn Bartram
