Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum 2014 and the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework and Development Matters.  We embed these nationally designed curriculum into themes that are engaging and relevant to the children.  Our themes change each term and are developed to meet the current needs, interest and next steps in learning of our pupils.  To find out more about the National Curriculum or EYFS Curriculum please click on links below.  Mrs Snowball (KS1 lead) or Mrs Piggott (EYFS) lead are happy to answer any additional questions you may have.

Reading

We use a system of synthetic phonics following the Read Write Inc scheme to teach early reading and to give pupils the essential skills they need to be able to read and write.

Maths

We use Big Maths as our scheme to teach pupils maths basic maths skills and to promote maths fluency. Big Maths is a systematic and structured programme that ensures pupils become properly numerate.  Big Maths uses child-friendly terms such as 'Switchers' and 'Learn Its' to help children manipulate numbers confidently.  A  big maths lesson has four parts 'CLIC' - counting; learn its; it's nothing new; and calculation.
